Black Ice was developed via a dialogue with atmospheric physicist Dr. Christoph Ritter at the AWIPEV Research Base, Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard. The art work explores the relationship between rhythm, time and transience. A number of melting processes of Arctic fjord ice samples can be seen under a microscope. Beyond the obvious climate context, the photographs and video also refer to an ongoing process of disappearance and transformation.
