SERIES COINCIDENCE & HIGHER ALTITUDES 2015-2016

In March and April 2015 I have undertaken my fourth journey to the Arctic. My stay at the French-German research base, AWIPEV, in Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen was supported by a fellowship from the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg in Delmenhorst and the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar und Marine Research in Bremerhaven.

The photographic works and videos, developed from this journey, deal with Arctic research in the 21st century. My interest was focused on how research in an equally inhospitable and illusive place look like and how does it function? From this aspect, I mainly dealt with methods and equipment used to measure ozone, aerosol and greenhouses gases, effecting air space and climate. The images produced to date relate to disturbances and phenomena that effect, change or impair this research in situ, such as the total eclipse of the sun, the phenomenon of the Arctic Haze, extreme cloud formation and storms.
